Recently Economic Times got in touch with Mr J C Sharma, our VC & MD. In this lengthy interview, Mr Sharma informed shared how Sobha is ready for RERA and how it is approaching GST. Here are the edited excerpts from the interview.
Unlike most other industries, there was until recently no management degree in real estate. Laws and regulations too were lax and loosely applied until RERA came up, the result being, that one of the largest sectors of the economy worked essentially on principles that were not very professional.
The man began his journey with just Rs 50 in his pocket. He lands in Muscat with almost no money, ends up building an interior designing firm and the rest is history. He is in the Forbes list of richest individuals, with a personal net worth of about $1.64 billion and group’s revenues sailing at about Rs. 25 billion.
Sobha Limited, the realty major and one of the most admired and trusted brands in India, has been honoured with the ‘TMA-HLL CSR 2016’ award by Trivandrum Management Association (TMA) - an affiliate of the All-India Management Association (AIMA). The award, which was presented by Mr. Paul Antony, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries & Power, Govt of Kerala), recognises Sobha’s sterling contribution in social work.
