How Dwarka ECC Will Bring New Delhi In The League Of Shanghai, Hong Kong And Singapore! (We are super excited as it is just 10 mins from Sobha City.)
December 2, 2017
Can you imagine living in the vicinity of an impressive, efficient and functional meeting and exhibition venue which is the host to leading festivals, product launches, award presentations, live broadcasts, concerts, competitions and tournaments?
Dwarka is soon to be on the world map with its upcoming Exhibition and Convention Center at Sector 25. This state-of-the-art center will provide a massive boost to Dwarka with its numerous economic benefits and change the face of Asia’s largest sub city. The Union Cabinet of India has recently approved Rs. 25,709 crore for this convention center. The Phase 1 of this world class ECC is expected to be complete by 2019.
For almost three decades, Pragati Maidan has been India’s only large, organized meeting space for holding exhibitions, conventions, trade fairs, etc. This larger and more modern ECC facility at Dwarka will be spread over a massive 220 acres. (Just to get some semblance, if we compare by size alone, the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, USA, which often makes it to the top of various lists as the best exhibition and convention center, is spread over 160 acre).
Will it boost Upper Dwarka Expressway?
So far, due to the absence of world class exhibition and conference facilities, India has not benefitted from the potential benefits of MICE (Market meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) and its share in the Global as well as Asian market has been very small. The Dwarka ECC will fill in this space and raise India’s share three times in the Asian MICE market to 15% and at the same time improve India’s ranking in the massive $280-billion global MICE market as well. This initiative of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) to develop a State of the Art Exhibition and Convention Centre is expected to host over 100 international and local exhibition events annually, will attract over 23 million visitors annually and create over 5 lakh jobs, directly or otherwise.
The project is envisioned to be on a scale of a Central Business District (CBD) with supporting retail space, commercial office space, hospitality, and entertainment and lifestyle opportunities for end-users.
The main infrastructure, exhibition and convention components of the ECC are proposed to be built by the central government and commercial components like hotels, retail and office space will be developed in public-private partnership mode.
Here are some staggering numbers:
- Exhibition space – 200,000 sq. m.
- Meetings and conventions space – 60,000 sq. m.
- Hospitality – 3,500 hotel rooms for delegates
- Seating capacity at the Multi-purpose arena – 20,000 people
- Parking – 27,000 vehicle
As per the plans, the ECC will be located at a distance of 3 km from the IGI Airport and will have Metro, arterial road and rail connectivity. Located in Sector 25 of Dwarka Sub City, the ECC site is located in between a 100 m wide UER-II (Urban Extension Road) and UER-I, connecting NH 1, 10 and 8. Towards east of the site is the 80 m wide Dwarka Expressway Road dividing Sectors 25 and 26.
THIS LANDMARK DEVELOPMENT IS JUST 10 MINUTES FROM INTERNATIONAL CITY AND SOBHA CITY, SITUATED ON UPPER DWARKA EXPRESSWAY.
