The Making Of My Future Sports Champions With The World Class Sporting Center In Dwarka
February 26, 2018
There’s a constant tussle in our house about what will cover the walls of Arjun and Anya’s bedroom. I would prefer a whiteboard for their timetables and homework schedules; Arjun wants every available space for posters of Messi, Ronaldo & Suarez and Anya has a skateboard hanging from a hook meant to hang her schoolbag. Now I would like to be a parent who encourages the sporting passions of my children; I myself played gali cricket and at the neighborhood open ground. The school does provide some impetus, but surely it takes more to really hone talent.
So, when I zeroed in on a home on the Dwarka Expressway (DEW) for my family, the facilities in and around my home was as important as the quality and luxury of the home itself. The DEW, apart from having a planned ecosystem of schools, commercial & entertainment centers and medical facilities, has an easy connectivity not just to the airport, Delhi and the center of Gurgaon, but also to Dwarka sub-city – a mini city by itself. The DDA has proposed a number of initiatives here, one of which is a 62-acre sporting complex that will house a football stadium of international standards, an eight-lane artificial athletics track, four badminton courts, three squash courts, and facilities for billiards and martial arts. The center will also have indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a dozen courts for tennis, basketball and volleyball and a skate park.
Each time there is an international sporting competition, our country’s performance highlights the lack of quality sport infrastructure that prevents training of good talent. A multi-sport complex such as this will help train hundreds of children along with my own.
And the best part is that I don’t need to spend hours driving my kids for practice sessions; through the 8-lane signal free DEW, I’m going to enjoy the ride. And my kids are going to be future football and skating champions.
